three b. (video version)

Hey people, the video's up finally! There are some slight changes from the previous storyboard. I hope the main gist of the story is still there. After my first attempt at video, i realise that your work station must have the capabilities to handle such intense workload from creation to compilation. After countless times of viewing my video to make sure the flow is smooth, i learn the preparation work beforehand must be done properly in order not to mess up the order.

Anyway, i hope you enjoy my video and understand the message behind it. =)

Hey people, I thought of a second draft. I decided not to attach my drawings because I also did not understand what I wanted to convey through my terrible sketches! Ha..sorry. Anyway, I hope to start snapping my photos tomorrow and complete it by this week. I should be able to piece the video together with 20 odd photos. Do give me your valuable comments if i should continue to work on this or the previous concept. Thanks!

Story Ends.

This story has more human element inside it. After reading the draft, I hope you will feel and understand the pain of losing a love one due to drink driving. If i manage to convey this message to you, then that's great! I hope to hear more comments from you. I am in the process of finding a suitable soundtrack for the theme and mood of the video. I will be putting up a few more updates to keep you people in the loop!

Finally, we are one more step closer to digital media. I must say the requirements varies over the different assignments. I took a different approach towards this assignment. I wanted to string together a series of photos with both the boy and girl's items as a pair. These items symbolise their life journey together through the different activities. Halfway through the video, all the items will be jumbled up to depict the turmoils they experience. But no matter how difficult the obstacle may be/ messed up the situation may be, their love for each other will make things right again(items forming a shape of a heart). This video might seem too simple or emotionless to some, since it is lacking of the human element. I had ideas to work on the abstract aspect of emotion by inject life into the items, letting them do the 'talking'/'acting'. The technical method I wanted to adopt to convey my message was stop motion. For example, the scene with the pair of dancing shoes, the shoes will be dancing across the screen by themselves as if they were alive.

Julian commented that I needed to work more on the story. I guess this concept seems alittle to abstract if not done properly. As of now I am keeping my options open again. Do drop by again to see if I decided to work on this story or draft another one out!

As I got down to brainstorm about what activity I wanted to share, I decided to share with the class something that everyone can take home after viewing my work. I wanted to work on an activity that was enriching and easy to convey as well. Besides the concept, I considered the technical aspect of the assignment too. I wanted to see how many colours I can work around the small file size limitation. This is what I got and I am please with the outcome.

Initially, I was surprise our first assignment was a poster design. I was expecting to dive into digital media right from the start. But i guess this assignment is a good bridge to link NM2208 to this module.

The play revolves around a couple, Jav and Pauline, who strives real hard for their dream to break out of their miserable poor lives. They are determined to do anything for it and end up giving in and taking the easy way up. In order to support Jav's overseas studies to further his promotion, Pauline decides to sell her body for sex. Finally, Jav completes his study and they are one step closer to their dream. However, they realise things will never be the same again. Their tarnished past continues to haunt them as they live in fear everyday, worried that someone from their past will recognize them.

Although it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words, I decided to use words to convey the abstract feeling. I always believe that one's imagination is the best medium, thus I wanted to let this poster trigger the viewers' curiosity. Overall, this piece of work received pretty good compliments from the class, just that it lacks the surrealistic aspect. I have an idea to shape a hand, using words, reaching out for the title 'Dreams'. I hope it will work out! Stay tune for my updates.
